Whiplash Compensation

The term “whiplash” is often used to describe the injuries sustained in a car accident. It is estimated that around 20% of injuries sustained as a result of a road traffic collision are whiplash injuries.

The practice has been dealing with litigation since 1887 and our specialist personal injury lawyers have over 25 years’ experience in dealing with personal injury claims and whiplash injuries arising out of road traffic accidents. We have recovered millions of pounds in compensation money and continue to successfully pursue personal injury claims of all natures. How can you make a “no win-no fee” claim for compensation money after suffering whiplash in a car accident?

What is whiplash?

Whiplash is the injury that is often sustained when another car collides with your car throwing you forward in your seat. It takes some time for your neck and head to catch up with the rest of your body and so your head is pulled forward causing your neck to become strained.

How do I know if I’ve suffered whiplash?

There are many different degrees of whiplash ranging from very minor whiplash that lasts for a few weeks to severe whiplash that can last for a number of years. You can pursue a claim and recover compensation for whiplash even if you have only suffered pain for a few weeks.

Whiplash often presents itself as aches and pains in your neck but can also travel down your shoulders or arms and sometimes between the shoulder blades. Those suffering whiplash often find that they are unable to move their neck without feeling pain or stiffness. Whiplash can often cause the sufferer to experience headaches which can last for weeks or months.

How is whiplash treated?

There is no treatment that will immediately cure whiplash but the majority of sufferers find that physiotherapy sessions are effective. We can make a referral at no cost to you for you to attend sessions with a physiotherapist. This means that we will seek to recover compensation money for your whiplash and arrange for your injuries to be treated by a medical expert.

How do I start making a claim for whiplash?

Contact us on 08000 921 288 to discuss your whiplash claim for compensation today. We can often start to pursue your claim for compensation on the same day that you contact us to ensure that you are compensated for your whiplash injury quickly and without delay. We will immediately contact the insurance company of the driver who is at fault and they are then under an obligation to respond to us within 14 days and inform us as to whether they will admit or deny liability.

Once the insurance company have admitted liability there are no lengthy and time-consuming negotiations about your whiplash injury, we can simply move forward to valuing your claim and agreeing a compensation figure that will be payable to you.

To enable a claim for accident compensation to be made it is necessary to obtain medical evidence which shows a link between the car accident and the injuries that you suffer from. We therefore take steps to arrange medical appointments very quickly with relevant health care providers so that all relevant medical evidence can be obtained in a very quick process. Medical evidence for car accident compensation is obtained from an Orthopaedic Surgeon who provides evidence about whiplash but as discussed above injuries are sometimes more severe such that evidence from other experts are required.

It is not a problem if you have not had an appointment with your own GP or if you did not attend at the Accident & Emergency Department of the hospital after the car accident. You will still be able to make a claim for whiplash injuries or any another injuries that you have suffered.

How much compensation money will I get for my whiplash injury?

There is no set compensation figure for a whiplash injury and depending on how severe your whiplash injury is you could receive between £1,000 and £50,000. The amount you receive for your whiplash injury will depend upon your level of pain and suffering and also upon how long it will take you to recover.

What will I have to do?
